How far does the state’s power to impose penalties in competition law extend without violating fundamental rights? This central question is at the heart of the event, which will examine the current debate surrounding the recently imposed €70 million fine on REWE from a constitutional perspective.

In cooperation with the University of Vienna and the Vienna Chamber of Commerce, the high-level panel will address this question. Walter Schwartz will open the discussion with an introductory keynote, highlighting the constitutional issues and outlining possible ways to challenge such a penalty.
